PHOTOGRAPHY I & II
Photography I – Foundations of Photography
Photography 1 introduces students to the art and practice of digital photography while exploring how images can glorify God and reveal His creation. Students will be introduced to the exposure triangle, manual camera operation, and lighting principles, gaining a technical foundation that empowers them to move beyond “auto mode” and into purposeful image-making.

Throughout the semester, students complete projects in several fields, including product photography, modeling, and experimental photography, while also studying composition, visual storytelling, and basic editing techniques. The course emphasizes both creative exploration and craftsmanship, encouraging students to use photography as a means of communication and worship.

The semester culminates in a final independent project of the student’s choosing, allowing students to apply their skills in a subject area that reflects their personal interests and creative vision. By the end of the course, students will have built a strong foundation in photography and developed a portfolio that demonstrates both technical skill and thoughtful artistry.
Photography II – Advanced Photography & Creative Vision
Photography II builds upon the foundational skills learned in Photography I, challenging students to refine their technical expertise and artistic voice. Students explore advanced camera settings, lighting techniques, and digital editing tools, while also diving into specialized genres such as studio portraiture, event photography, and photojournalism.

Through hands-on projects, critiques, and collaborative assignments, students are pushed to think critically about composition, aesthetics, and the power of visual storytelling. Faith integration remains central, as students consider how their photography can impact culture, serve their community, and reflect biblical truth.

The course culminates in the creation of a professional-style portfolio that demonstrates technical mastery, artistic growth, and a clear sense of personal vision rooted in a Christian perspective.
